Footprints to the flow…

The Insightful Path leads you to find a space for creativity in your life. As an experienced professional coach, I hear (and sometimes catch myself saying) that it is hard to 'find the time' for ‘the creative’, for the self-discovery work that is essential for our development.

And this is true. True because 'time FOR...' indicates that that time has already been allocated 'for' something. Who is the person who has ultimate responsibility for how your time, your life, is allocated? You do.

Yet, if you don't put it in your diary, you will not see time allocated for self-discovery. You will not find the time slot that says 'for creative time'... you will find time slots that keep getting taken up by emails, chores, meetings, etc...

There is an easy answer, however. Knowing that every leap in skills development, every leap in leadership capability ONLY occurs after time for self-discovery, and time for processing that, and working on it... it is only logical that we have to allocate time for creativity, for self-discovery if we want to reap the rewards of leadership capability growth, or skills development, or self-understanding (which underpins both).

This is my most recent creative endeavour - Shoalhaven River sandstone, done with a rotary carving tool, and a stone cutter. What art means to the artist is, to me, less important than what art means to the viewer... If it is good, it can resonate and the viewer can find something in it that helps them discover a part of themselves too.
