Not knowing…

Senior leaders, and many who are rewarded for '𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒔' are saturated in a context that is all about delivery... a context that rewards those who can react the fastest and provide 'solutions' that are plausible.

However one of the key characteristics of good leadership is in taking the time to both accurately diagnose 𝙖𝙣𝙙 accept that some challenges are complex, rather than being simply complicated. They require more than simply applying our technical know-how to resolve them.

If we are in our contextualised and habitual frame of mind, where being seen to not know the answers can be unconsciously received as being 'less-than', there is a large pressure to mis-apply the 'plausible technical solution' to the adaptive complex challenge.

In their book - 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, Steven D'Souza and Diana Renner eloquently and accessibly illustrate the challenge as well as provide many inspiring stories, ideas and practices to help you to move from uncertainty to opportunity. It is one of my ‘must read’ books for leaders.

Why not find someone you can trust, who is able to help build your skills in turning uncertainty to opportunity - to help you to unlock insights and address challenges?
